Jordbassinerne

The shelter site at Jordbassinerne near Assens is part of the shelter concept Blue Support Points, where you can spend the night in new modern and coastal shelters all around Funen.

The shelters must be booked at [www.bookenshelter.dk](https://bookenshelter.dk/fyn/shelterplads/jordbassinerne-ved-assens/), and it costs 30 kr./person/overnatning.

**Interior**

One half of each shelter is divided into floors, so that two can sleep upstairs and two downstairs. A fifth person can sleep on the floor in the other half of the shelter.

The shelter has lots of doors, gates and windows, so in good weather you can get plenty of light and air. In bad weather, the shelter can be closed almost completely. However, there is one opening that cannot be closed. It is a requirement that a shelter *must* have at least one permanent opening. Remember to close all doors and windows when leaving the shelter.

**Other facilities on the site**

There is a multi-toilet and a campfire site with a campfire ring and campfire benches.

If there is firewood in the firewood shed, you are welcome to use it in limited quantities. It costs 20 DKK, which can be paid via MobilePay no. **878 119**. The firewood is only laid out occasionally, so if you want to be sure of being able to light a fire, bring your own firewood. Of course, no trees or bushes may be felled or cut on the site.

**Access to the site**

You are not allowed to drive a car on the Jordbassinerne. So the car must be parked in the parking lot Søndre Ringvej 20, 5610 Assens - and then you must walk the 900 m to the shelter site.

**About the area**

The Jordbassinerne is a 40 ha natural gem right next to the town of Assens. The area was dammed so that the then Assens Sugar Factory could deposit the soil that was on the sugar beets when they were delivered. The sugar factory existed from 1884 to 2006, and during that time so much soil was washed from the sugar beets that the terrain today is approx. 10 meters above sea level.

The beach below the shelter site is a bit rocky, but definitely worth a dip.
