Shelter
3 sheltere på lejrplads Sjøljan
The overnight camp is open to everyone, both for overnight stays and for enjoying the campfire. Use and stay are free.
The shelters can be booked by organized groups of 15 people or more via the link here https://udinaturen.dk/shelter/142854/. Here you can also see if the shelters are booked by others. If the shelters are not booked, the first-come, first-served principle applies.
Booking the shelters means that you have priority to the shelters - not to the entire site, which others are also welcome to use while you are here.
It is good shelter culture to give space to others in the shelter, if possible.
If you have booked the shelters and have not used them before 8 p.m., the priority will lapse and others may use them.
You are welcome to pitch a tent on the site within the area marked with a railing.
You are welcome to light a fire at existing fire sites. You may collect wood for the fire in the surrounding forest and scrub. Remember to inform yourself about any burning bans. Extinguish the fire thoroughly after you, so that there are no embers left, or stay until the fire has burned out completely.
It is not allowed to play loud music or make other noise that disturbs animals and other people. Take your trash with you when you leave the site.
There is a primitive toilet by the road, and in the spring of 2025 a water hydrant will be established. The existing old water hydrant is not working.
Parking lot: Drive along Hammersøvej 2A. You will find a large parking lot by Opalsøen and Hammersø. From here you can walk the 50m to the shelter site, which has the address Hammersøvej 15.
The area is grazed by a herd of calm Galloway cattle that care for the nature and keep it open. The area around the shelters is fenced off.
The shelter was built with support from the A.P. Møller Foundation.
