Rørhønen shelter

The Rørhønen shelter is located in Stenholtsvang in a small gravel pit with a nice view and good opportunities for evening sun. There is room for 2 people, maybe 3 if you live close together. There is a fire pit and a bench. It is flat to enter and the short distance to the nearest car park makes it suitable for people with walking difficulties, but the place is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Since there is no marking from the local forest road to the shelter itself, you have to find it using the GPS points.

You can get here via Hillerød station and then there is a 5 to 6 kilometer hike. You can also get off at the steps of the castle pavilion and from there it will be a 2 to 3 kilometer hike. It is also possible to use one of the many forest parking spaces around Stenholtsvang, the nearest one is just one kilometer from the shelter.
