Shelter
Koralsvampen shelter
Koralsvampen shelter is located in a small pot in the terrain surrounded by beautiful forest. It shares a campfire site with Pigsvampen shelter and an overnight spot for hammocks. Pigsvampen shelter is booked separately and the hammock spot is free to use on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, be prepared to make room for an extra loaf of bread on the campfire if you meet someone who is out enjoying a night in a hammock, or someone who has booked the other shelter on the site. Two hammock poles have also been set up between the two shelters, so you can relax in the bunk while the coffee is brewing on the campfire. It is possible to pitch a couple of smaller tents within 20 meters of the shelter. There is room for 2-3 overnight guests in Koralsvampen shelter.
You must bring your own water and firewood. It is permitted to collect branches on the forest floor for firewood, but trees may not be cut down.
The shelter site must be left tidy, and all waste must be taken out of the forest. Remember to put out the fire before you leave the shelter site!
If you are using public transport, you can go to Kagerup St. (Hillerød) or Duemose St., from which in both cases it is a walk to the shelter site of approx. 2.5 km. There is also car parking at Kagerup St. and at the parking lot at Ny Mårumvej and at the parking lot at Skovvej. The walk from the latter two parking lots to the shelter site is approx. 2 km.
If you are coming from Kagerup St., you must go through the fence in Naturnationalpark Gribskov to get to the shelter site. Scroll through the images on this page to find the map showing suggested routes and the entrances and exits of the fence.
