Shelter
Forårsferejen og Dagpåfugleøjen shelters
The Forårsferejen and Dagpåfugleøjen shelters are located at the Rågårdshus campsite, where the sun shines through both deciduous and coniferous forests.
This shelter site has been designed to be easily accessible for people with physical disabilities. The two shelters are slightly larger than the 2-3 person shelters that can also be found in the forest, to provide more room for maneuvering and any assistive devices. The site has 3 benches and a table bench set, one of which is halved so that you can sit at the table in a wheelchair. The two shelters share a common campfire site, surrounded by a raised fire ring that makes it possible to move close to the grill without being hit by sparks or flames.
You may collect firewood from the forest floor or bring your own firewood to the site. You may spend a maximum of two nights at a small campsite. Remember to put out the fire before leaving the campsite and take your trash out of the forest!
To get to the shelter site, you can drive into the forest from Gl. Frederiksborgvej and park at the Nature Agency's parking lot at Rågårdshus. From here it is approx. 250 m to the shelter site. If you follow the 1.5 wide gravel path, you will first be led past a nearby campfire hut, then past a disabled-friendly toilet and finally the shelter site.
The two shelters must be booked together.
