Tversted Klitplantage - det hemmelige shelter

This small shelter is for those who want to spend the night in a shelter in the forest without anyone else around you and without other facilities than a shelter and a fire ring.

The shelter is located close to the National Cycle Route 1 - Vestkyruten and the blue hiking route in Tversted Klitplantage. Camping is not allowed at the shelter.

The shelter can be booked and you have priority. If it is not booked, you are welcome to stay overnight "first come, first served". In both cases, a maximum of 2 nights in the same shelter.

This is the place where you can have a quiet nature experience. Respect the area and the wildlife by moving quietly and leaving no traces.

The opening faces east and if you are lucky enough to have the sun shining in the morning, the light shines through the trees, on the orange Scots pine trunks, down to the forest floor and into the shelter.

Fires may only be made in the fire ring. No firewood is laid out. You are welcome to collect dry branches in the forest floor for a fire, but you are welcome to walk a little further away so that the forest floor in front of the shelter is not cleared of dead branches. Make only a small fire and put it out thoroughly after you. You are welcome to use a small emergency kitchen if it is placed stably and fireproof - for example on a small plate that you have brought with you.

A fire pit with a grill and firewood, water and toilet can be found at Østerklit Stokmølle and the shelter site approx. 1.8 km west of the cycle path or at the parking lot for Tverstedsøerne a further 800 meters west.

If you want to "go to the toilet" at the shelter, dig a small hole in the forest floor for waste and paper and cover it thoroughly after you, so that nothing is lying on the surface.

Keep the area clean and tidy and take your waste with you.

You cannot drive into the site. The nearest parking is approx. 2½ km west of Tverstedsøerne.
