Shelterplads Vågehøj på Røsnæs

In the free camping forest east of Røsnæs Nature School there is a shelter with a campfire site with a grill. The shelter is located on the Røsnæs tent site, where it is permitted to pitch tents next to the shelter. It is not possible to book the shelter, and use of it is therefore based on the “first come, first served” principle. There can be about four people in the shelter. You can sleep in the shelter for two nights in a row.

There is no toilet or water on the site. The nearest tap and toilet is at the Nature School, which is located about 500 meters from the shelter. You must bring your own firewood. Campfires are only allowed on the officially established campfire site in front of the shelter.

When arriving by car, the nearest parking lot at Vågehøj is at Røsnæsvej 456, 440 Kalundborg (in Google Maps Parking Vågehøj). It is 170 meters from the parking lot to the shelter and the tent site. You can also arrive by bike or on foot along the asphalt road Røsnæsvej, or when walking on the hiking route Røsnæs Rundt or on the local red route. It is not possible to drive all the way to the shelters to unload equipment, and parking must be done at the nearest parking lot.

Access to the shelter is via a gravel road, grass and dirt path. The shelter is designed with a transfer platform for wheelchair users, but the wheelchair must be off-road capable to get to the shelter.

There are no waste containers at the shelters, so what you bring on the trip, you must also take home.

The shelter was built with support from the A.P. Møller Foundation.
