In the years from which it was built, 1955-1957, this refuge was built because of the great view of the valley at the point where the Hesselgrund climbed. Today the hut can hardly be made out from the path, as dense vegetation obscures the view.

Long-established Biedenkopfers can still tell a story or two that happened at the hut...

Be careful when visiting the hut with children. Next to the hut there is an unsecured slope and old quarry, where it goes down about 3m. In summer, when the plants are dense, it's easy to miss.
