The Sellerberg refuge is located in the Liesener Forest, in the town of Hallenberg. The B 236 on the connection between Winterberg and Hallenberg passes nearby.

The A3 hiking trail leads right past the Sellerberg refuge. The A3 leads to the L3 hiking trail, the Liesetal circular trail and the X6 main hiking trail to the Kahler Asten.
